Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao returned to the Philippines on Tuesday after winning the welterweight title in Las Vegas against Mexican-American opponent Jessie Vargas on Saturday.
Pacquiao arrived at Manila airport early in the morning and then went to a hotel in Makati district where a gathering was organised to celebrate the victory of the boxer, considered the best athlete in the history of the Philippines, reports Efe.
Pacquiao, who was elected Senator in May elections, is expected to attend the Upper House session on Tuesday and resume his work as a legislator.
"Now it's time to return to work," Pacquiao told reporters.
The Filipino champion had announced in April his intention to retire from boxing to focus on his political career but a few weeks after winning a seat in the Senate, he said he would return to the ring.
He did, and in style.
