Leander Paes and his German partner Andre Begemann were beaten 6-4, 3-6, 10-12 in the St. Petersburg Open tennis tournament final against top seeds Henri Kontinen and Dominic Inglot here on Sunday.
The match was keenly fought, with fortunes oscillating to and fro. The Indo-German pair lost the match to Finnish-British opponents in one hour and 19 minutes at the indoor hard courts.
It was Paes's second loss in a final of a tournament this year, after the loss in the Winston-Salem Open last month.
Paes is yet to win a men's doubles title this year, with his last tour title being the Heineken Open in January, 2015.
They beat the Russian pair of Mikhail Elgin and Alexander Kudryavtsev 6-3, 7-6 in the semi-finals here.
Paes and Begemann will next take part in the Chengdu Open in China which begins on Tuesday.
