Women's doubles top seeds Sania and Swiss Martina Hingis defeated Italian 11th seeds Sara Errani and Flavia Pennetta 6-4, 6-1 in one hour and 17 minutes.
Later, mixed doubles fourth seeds Paes, also partnering Hingis, defeated second seeds Indo-Chinese Taipei combine of Rohan Bopanna and Yung-Jan Chan 6-2, 7-5 in just over an hour.
