Paintings by Indian, Chinese women on show

As many as 24 works of art by women artists from India and China are on display at a 10-day exhibition here showcasing cultural ties between the two neighbours, organisers said on Wednesday.

Christened 'Maitri', the assemblage of paintings created at the India-China Women Artists' residency held at Jaipur in November 2014, will be exhibited at the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) till July 31.

According to ICCR, the artworks provide a panoramic view of the evolution of art in both countries over the years.

Twelve artists from each country participated in the residency to produce a diverse body of work celebrating the co-existence of modernity and tradition as well as to bring out the common yet distinct cultural link between the two countries.
