Pakistani troops aggain violated the bilateral ceasefire in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir late Friday night by firing at Indian troops on the Line of Control (LoC).

"Our troops responded to the unprovoked firing by Pakistan in Digwar village of Poonch and the resulting exchange of fire continued for nearly six hours. The firing from the Pakistan side started at 10.30 p.m. yesterday (Friday) and ended around 4.30 a.m. Saturday," a defence spokesperson said.

He added that was no loss on the Indian side.

On Aug 6, Pakistani troops crossed the LoC in Chakan Da Bagh area of Poonch district and killed five Indian soldiers.

A bilateral ceasefire agreement was signed by India and Pakistan in November 2003. A modicum of normalcy had returned into the lives of people living on the two sides of the LoC, the de facto border between India and Pakistan in divided Kashmir.
