The Pakistan Army on Tuesday resorted to heavy shelling and automatic gunfire at Indian positions on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, a defence spokesperson said.
Lieutenant Colonel Manish Mehta told IANS that the firing in the Sunderbani sector of Rajouri district started around 7 in the morning.
"Our troops retaliated effectively and appropriately. Firing exchanges continued in the area up to 11 a.m," the spokesperson said.
The fresh violation of a 2003 ceasefire agreement came a day after Pakistan alleged that seven of its soldiers were killed in firing from the Indian side.
