The Pakistan Army on Wednesday resorted to indiscriminate shelling on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district.
The Pakistani side used small arms, automatics and mortars to target defence and civilian facilities along the LoC in the district, a defence official said.
"Pakistani shelling and firing started at 10.30 a.m. Our positions retaliated strongly and effectively", the official said.
Pakistan's indiscriminate shelling of civilian facilities has forced the authorities to shut 72 schools close to the border in Rajouri and Poonch districts.
