The World Twenty 20 warm-up fixture between Pakistan and Bengal which was scheduled for March 12 at Eden Gardens here has been cancelled, Cricket Association of Bengal joint secretary Avishek Dalmiya confirmed on Friday.

The Pakistan team was supposed to arrive in the city by Friday afternoon but, according to latest reports, the team would now fly out to India at night after the clearance given by its government.

"Yes, the game has been cancelled," Dalmiya told IANS.

The decision came after Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh said the Pakistan team will be provided adequate security during their World Twenty20 campaign here in the country.

The Pakistan government had demanded a written assurance from India on providing foolproof security to its players after protests by serving and retired soldiers of the Indian Army and political leaders in Himachal Pradesh forced the International Cricket Council (ICC) to shift the group match against hosts India from Dharamsala to Kolkata.
