The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Wednesday reserved its verdict on Mumtaz Qadri's appeal against his death sentence for killing Salman Taseer, the former governor of Pakistan's Punjab province in 2011, Geo News reported.
Taseer was assassinated Jan 4, 2011, by one of his bodyguards, Qadri, for demanding reforms in the country's blasphemy laws. Qadri was sentenced to death by an anti-terrorism court (ATC) Oct 1, 2011, which found him guilty of killing Taseer.
On Jan 27, the IHC had issued a one-week deadline after prosecutors asked for more time during the hearing of Qadri's appeal.
