Pakistan has got its first organ transplant centre at the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) that will provide facilities for multi-organ transplants, including for liver, intestine, pancreas, bone marrow and cornea.
The 14-storey facility, inaugurated on Wednesday, is designed to meet the future challenges of transplantation science, the Dawn reported on Thursday.
Spread over an area of 250,000 square feet, the 100-bed transplant centre has intensive care units, transplant wards and a state-of-the-art modern operation theatre -- all under one roof.
