Pakistan's top military leadership reviewed the prevailing internal and external security situation of the country including progress of the ongoing operation Zarb-e-Azb.
The review was undertaken at the 180th Corps Commanders' Conference, held at General Headquarters in the garrison city of Rawalpindi on Tuesday, with Army chief Gen. Raheel Sharif chairing the deliberations that dwelt at length on various professional matters, Geo News reported.
The participants also undertook a comprehensive review of operational preparedness besides prevalent internal and external security situation of the country including progress of ongoing operation.
The Pakistan Army launched a major offensive against terrorists in the troubled northwestern tribal areas of the country bordering Afghanistan following a brazen militant attack at Karachi airport last year.
The military later intensified its operations against the militants of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) after a deadly attack on Army Public School in Peshawar on December 16, 2014.
The government also formulated an emergency National Action Plan (NAP) including formation of military courts to hear terrorism-related cases following the militant attacks.
