The Pakistani government is to announce an agriculture relief package to support the farmers following a slump in commodity prices, the media reported on Tuesday.
According to the food and national security ministry officials, the package may envisage cash subsidies and new support prices for major crops, Radio Pakistan reported.
The relevant authorities are assessing the losses suffered by the farming community due to reduction in prices of crops and the assistance required for them to recover their cost of production.
The prices of rice and cotton have plunged by at least twenty five percent when compared with the last season.
