Pakistan Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique on Thursday inaugurated a special "Christmas Peace Train" as part of X-Mas celebrations.

Flagging off the train at the Margalla Railway Station here, Rafique said: "The train would carry the message of inter-faith harmony and highlight the strong bonds of Muslim and Christian communities."

He said the purpose of launching the special train was to spread the message of peace and love and to overcome intolerance towards different religions, Aaj News reported.

The federal minister added that the white colour of Pakistan's flag represents minority groups. "The flag is incomplete without them," he said.

Minorities and Human Rights Minister Kamran Michael said: "The present day Pakistan is the Pakistan of our dreams with no difference of religion, caste, colour or creed."

The "Christmas Peace Train", after commencing its journey from Rawalpindi, is scheduled to reach Karachi on December 31.

Through this initiative, Pakistan Railways hopes to create awareness about inter-faith harmony in the country and to mark Christmas as well as the birth anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah which falls on December 25.
