For the first time in Pakistan's history, a university here has awarded an MPhil degree in Hindi, a media report said.

The military-run National University of Modern Languages (NUML) has award the degree to Shahin Zafar for her thesis, titled "Swatantryottra Hindi Upanyason Mein NasriChittran (1947-2000)", Dawn reported .

Zafar's work was supervised by Professor Iftikhar Husain Arif and endorsed by the Higher Education Commission.

Due to dearth of Hindi experts in Pakistan, Zafar's thesis was evaluated by two foreign experts from Aligarh Muslim University in India, an NUML spokesperson said.
