Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K. Palaniswami on Tuesday announced a Rs 2,247 crore financial package for drought-hit farmers in the state.
Palaniswami said in a statement that he ordered the compensation towards the cost of inputs incurred by the farmers.
He said the bank accounts of the farmers will be credited with their eligible amount.
Palaniswami said crop insurers have been asked to settle the crop loss claims from the farmers at the earliest.
