At least 120 Palestinian prisoners went on a hunger strike on Thursday in several Israeli jails, Palestinian authorities said.

The Palestinian corporation for prisoners' affairs said in a statement that the jail inmates decided to go on a hunger strike to protest "the inhumane treatment" they receive in Israeli prisons, Xinhua reported.

"The prisoners' demands are clear: They want Israeli prisons to stop their humiliating measures such as breaking into their sections and conducting intrusive inspections of the prisoners," said the statement.

Israel has almost 7,000 Palestinian prisoners in its jails, with dozens having spent over 20 years in jail.
