The day was celebrated across the state with gaiety and cheer. Special church services were held and Palm Sunday processions were taken out in the morning.

In the colourful processions, men, women and children carrying palm leaves chanted 'Hosanna' and sang hymns. The day is called Palm Sunday as the people of Jerusalem threw palm leaves on the ground welcoming Jesus Christ.
