With an eye on the Make in India initiative, Panasonic Welding Systems, in association with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), organised a technical seminar and workshop on Thursday.

The objective of the programme was to promote high precision arc welding technology in India under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Make in India initiative.

Welding technology, which remains the most critical for industrial sectors, is required to assure long-term reliability across applications such as fabrication of buildings, bridges, process plant equipment and manufacturing of automobiles, ships and railways.

"The initiative by Panasonic Welding Systems supports the government's vision of raising India's share of GDP from an existing 16 percent to 25 percent by the year 2022," Toshihide Takahashi, divisional managing director, Panasonic Welding Systems India, said at an event in Gurgaon.

"Application of advanced intelligent welding machines which synergise with the skill of welders to achieve superior quality welds with higher productivity which in turn as the next big thing of the future for Indian industry," he added.
