Former Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam, who is leading the breakaway AIADMK group, has fielded E. Madhusudanan for the April 12 by-election for the Radhakrishnan Nagar assembly constituency.
Madhusudanan was AIADMK's Presidium Chairman before he was dismissed from the party by General Secretary V.K. Sasikala.
The seat fell vacant with the death of Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa.
The AIADMK had said it would field its Deputy General Secretary T.T.V. Dinakaran.
The DMK said it would field M. Maruduganesh from the seat.
Jayalalithaa's niece Deepa Jayakumar, who has floated her forum MGR Amma Deepa Peravai, is also expected to join the contest.
