Park Street gang-rape victim meets Barasat victim's kin

In an empathetic gesture, the victim of the Park Street gang-rape Monday visited the family of the murdered Barasat gang-rape victim.

"It takes time. Keep patience. The murderers will be punished," the Park Street rape victim told the gir's mother at Kamduni village in Barasat of North 24-Parganas district.

A second-year college student was abducted, raped and killed by a group of youths June 7 when she was returning home after appearing in an examination.

During her visit to the family recently, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had assured fast-tracking of the trial and ensuring capital punishment for the guilty in the Barasat incident.

 

The Park Street gang-rape victim is an Anglo-Indian woman. She was allegedly sexually assaulted at gunpoint in a moving car in the early hours Feb 6, 2012, by a gang of five men.

Three of the accused have been arrested while two are untraced and on the run.
