Home Minister Rajnath Singh Saturday condoled the deaths in the Patna stampede and assured Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi all help from the central government.
An official statement said the home minister "condoled the loss of precious lives in Patna stampede and wished for speedy recovery of those injured".
"Had a telephonic conversation with Bihar CM Shri Jitan Ram Manjhi again this morning who apprised me of the latest developments," tweeted Rajnath Singh earlier.
"Assured Bihar CM of all help from the center including the medical help and asked him to provide better medial treatment to those injured," he said in a subsequent tweet.
The home minister had also spoken to the Bihar chief minister last night after the incident.
A stampede in the Bihar capital Friday night left 33 dead. The incident happened after as people were on their way home from the Gandhi maidan after witnessing the burning of the Ravana effigy as a part of Dussehra celebrations.
