Thanks to double efforts from Dimitri Payet, football club Marseille had a perfect revenge on last season's French Cup arch rivals Nice, trouncing the opponents 4-0 at home to rise temporarily to be among the Ligue 1 new season's top-3.
In the previous six recent encounters between the two, Marseille won once, drew twice but lost three, all coming as the 2013-14 French Cup match-ups, reports Xinhua.
Payet opened the scoring for the home side as a low cross found its way in the 20th minute to the 27-year-old forward, who had the simple job of finishing low into the bottom corner to give his side the lead.
Florian Thauvin doubled it just before the break, receiving a nice cross from Payet and finishing into an empty net.
Just three minutes into the second half, Payet made it 3-0 with a diving header, this time Thauvin setting him up with a brilliant lofted pass.
Forty minutes later, substitute Abdelaziz Barrada tapped into an empty net to complete the rout.
