PEC Zwolle are the surprise leaders of the Dutch Eredivisie after four rounds, taking a maximum number of 12 points.

PEC Zwolle beat SC Cambuur 2-0 to record their fourth consecutive win Sunday. Substitute Guyon Fernandez opened the scoring in the 69th minute from the rebound, while Rochdi Achenteh made it 2-0 from the penalty spot in the 78th minute, reports Xinhua.

Ahead of the fourth match round PSV were the only other team to have not dropped points, but the Eindhoven based side drew 1-1 at Heracles Almelo Saturday. Lerin Duarte earned the home team an early lead, but substitute Park Ji-Sung equaliaed on behalf of PSV.

It is not the first time PEC Zwolle top the standings in the Eredivisie. After two match rounds in the 1988/1989 season PEC were frontrunners.

"Can we become champions?". "I would not bet on it. Of course we have to stay realistic. However, PSV lost points and therefore we are on top. We can be proud of that," Zwolle coach Ron Jans said.

PEC lead the standings with twelve points, two ahead of PSV and five ahead of, among others, FC Twente and Ajax.
