US Vice President Mike Pence arrived in Brussels, the second stop of his European tour to reassure US' worried allies.

Pence arrived at the Melsbroek military airport on Sunday under police surveillance, Xinhua news agency reported.

He will meet Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel on Sunday evening. On Monday, the US vice president will hold meetings with officials at the EU institutions and NATO.

Michel and Pence will then hold a joint press conference.

Speaking on the Francophone public broadcaster RTBF, Michel said that he will remind Pence of the long-standing friendship that has existed between the two countries, and also talk about issues causing unease in Europe.

The Vice President flew from Munich, Germany, where he attended the Munich Security Conference.
