Nearly 150 people on Wednesday staged a protest outside the office of deputy commissioner of police (DCP) here after a Haryana Police personnel allegedly abused three people from West Bengal.

The protestors, under the banner of Crime Check Organisation, marched to the DCP's office in Sushant Lok and handed over a memorandum to DCP Deepak Saharan.

The protestors, mostly from the northeast region, alleged that an assistant sub-inspector abused three Gorkha men from Darjeeling in Nathupur village on May 16.

"How can we feel secure when a man in uniform abusing us publicly... We are sitting on 'dharna' until the police officer, who abused us, apologises and faces legal action," Kiran B.K., national secretary Crime Check Organization, told IANS.

"DCP Saharan, who is also nodal officer to help people from northeast, was not doing his job perfectly. Otherwise, how can an officer working under him abuse us publicly," Padam Singh, a protestor from Nepal, told IANS.
