Rapper-songwriter Pharrell Williams has signed a contract with Columbia Records label.
He was earlier with Interscope Records. The producer's new single "Happy," which featured on "Despicable Me 2", will also be a part of his forthcoming Columbia Records full length debut, set to be released in 2014.
"When we excitedly partnered with Pharrell in January of this year, we felt it was his time again. Since then, 'Blurred Lines' and 'Get Lucky' have defined pop music in 2013, and now we are preparing to launch Pharrell as a global solo superstar in 2014," Rob Stringer, Columbia Records chairman and CEO, said in a statement.
Williams, who has received seven Grammy nominations this time, had co-written and featured in two best selling tracks of 2013- Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" and Daft Punk's "Get Lucky".
