The BJP in Bihar wants the governor to make sure that the Janata Dal-United has enough numbers in the state assembly to continue in government, BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi said here Sunday.

"The governor must be satisfied that he (Nitish Kumar) has the majority. There should be a parade of JD-U legislators at Raj Bhavan. Only after that, Nitish Kumar should be invited to form the government," said former deputy chief minister Modi, after leading a delegation of Bharatiya Janata Party leaders to the governor's residence.

Modi alleged that "horse-trading" had already begun in the state.

"Legislators are being called on phone and offered ministerial positions in the next government. This is affecting the development and image of Bihar," he said.

Modi said the ruling JD-U was attempting to form a government with the support of Lalu Prasad's Rashtriya Janata Dal and the Congress, against which it contested the recently held Lok Sabha polls.
