PM offers condolences to Dasmunsi's family

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday expressed his condolences to the family of veteran Congress leader Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi who succumbed to his prolonged illness here this afternoon. He was 72.

"Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi was a popular leader with rich political and administrative experience. He did notable work to popularise football in India. Saddened by his demise. My thoughts are with Deepa Dasmunsiji and family as well as his supporters," Modi tweeted.

A former Union Minister, Dasmunsi died at Apollo Hospital here.

He had suffered a brain stroke in 2008 and was admitted to AIIMS. Later he was shifted to his home, and in 2009 he was admitted to Apollo Hospitals here. The stroke left him paralysed and unable to speak. He was in coma since he suffered the stroke.
