Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski has signed a document prolonging the participation of Polish soldiers in the EU military operation in Central African Republic (CAR), media reported Saturday.
The National Security Bureau said that the mission has been prolonged until Dec 15, 2014, Xinhua reported citing the Polish Press Agency.
So far, it has cost Poland about 10 million zloty (about $3.5 million).
Approximately 50 Polish soldiers and military employees have participated in the mission, mostly Military Police, whose tasks were mainly to provide security and common prevention actions.
Based on the decision signed by Komorowski, the Polish contingent will remain in the Central African Republic from Nov 1 to Dec 12, 2014.
The operation, being carried out by the EU in close cooperation with the local authorities, the African Union and the United Nation, is aimed at stabilising the situation within the area of Bangui, the capital of the country.
