Poland has expressed its grave concern over the escalation of the domestic conflict in Ukraine and deaths in Kiev during clashes between protesters and police.
Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski had a telephonic conversation with his Ukrainian counterpart Viktor Yanukovych following Wednesday's clashes in which at least three people have reportedly died, Xinhua quoted local media as saying here.
"President Komorowski expressed deep concern over the escalation of the domestic conflict in Ukraine and the fatal victims of the clashes in Kiev."
Expressing "deep concern over the escalation of domestic conflict", Presidential Minister Jaromir Sokolowski said, "President Komorowski called for actions to stop the bloodshed in Ukraine."
The two presidents also discussed potential scenarios of ending the crisis. Komorowski "was relieved to hear that President Yanukovych has started dialogue with the three main Ukrainian opposition leaders", the official said.
At last three people are reportedly dead, including two of bullet wounds sustained during Wednesday's clashes between Ukraine's pro-Europe demonstrators and the police.
Media reports said Yanukovych had a three hour meeting with opposition leaders aimed at defusing the street violence.
The mass protests are continuing in Ukraine, mostly in the capital city of Kiev, following Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych's November withdrawal from an EU association agreement in favour of a closer tie with Russia.
