Delhi Police chief B.S. Bassi on Wednesday rubbished allegations that his men tried to kill AAP leader Dilip Pandey, who claimed that a police van tried to run him over a day earlier.

"For the first time in my career, I have come across such an allegation," Bassi told the media.

But he quickly added: "We'll look into the complaint. The AAP should not be afraid or get paranoid."

Pandey alleged that the police van tried to run him over while he was briefing journalists outside the Rajender Nagar police station on Tuesday night.

"I am shocked that Delhi Police is trying to eliminate me," Pandey told IANS. "I was luckily pushed away by one of the volunteers."

He also tweeted: "Shocked to see sad state of DelhiPolice. A Police bus tried to run over kill me from behnd while I was talkng to media. Someone pushed saved me!"

He has also filed a written complaint with the Rajender Nagar police station.

The AAP reiterated the allegation.

"A police van tried to run over Dilip Pandey while he was talking to the media," the party said in a Facebook post.

"Just had a word with (Pandey). Shocking to know that Delhi Police is now trying to eliminate us," AAP spokerperson Raghav Chadha tweeted.
