A officer of the Bihar Police committed suicide on Saturday within the premises of a police station in Buxar district, an official said.
Sushil Kumar Yadav, officer in charge of Rajpur police station in Buxar, about 125 km from here, shot himself in the head with his service revolver, a police official said.
The reason behind the suicide is not yet known, he added.
An unconfirmed report said Yadav was upset for a few days after he was scolded by the district superintendent of police at a meeting infront of other colleagues.
Bihar Police Association president Mirtunjay Kumar Singh said Yadav was humiliated and insulted by a senior police officer at a meeting and that he committed suicide under pressure.
"Yadav's sucide should be probed by a high-level team and a case of murder should be lodged against the accused and a compensation should be paid to kin of the victim," Singh said.
