Police have cracked a burglary case here with the arrest of two men who took away diamonds, gold jewellery and British currency from an NRI's house.
The crime was committed in Indirapuram on October 19 when the house owner, J.P. Gupta, who lives in Britain, was on a holiday in India, Senior Superintendent of Police Deepak Kumar said.
When the Guptas were away, their cook and driver escaped with virtually all their belongings.
This included household goods worth Rs 60 lakh, 5,500 pounds, Rs 4.75 lakh in Indian currency, four passports and laptops.
After their arrest, driver Puran and cook Sonu told the police they had dumped much of what they looted near the Hindon river.
"I will honour the police team with Rs 5,000 cash reward for their good work," Deepak Kumar told the media.
