Twenty-six malnourished stray dogs that were confined to a house in the capital were rescued by Delhi Police, officials said Monday.
Police registered a case and launched a hunt to nab the house owner, identified as Gokul Nair.
The 32-year-old Nair, who works with a multinational company, had a habit of keeping stray dogs, police said.
A neighbour informed a non-governmental organisation, and a raid was conducted by the police at Nair's house in south Delhi's Vasant Kunj area Sunday night.
Neighbours complained of continuous barking and stink coming from the house. All the dogs were malnourished.
