A Delhi Police head constable was seriously injured after being assaulted as he tried to stop a 'road rage' clash here, police said Monday.
The incident, reported from south Delhi's Jamia Nagar around 11 p.m. Sunday, occurred after an accident when Babar, along with his friend Majeed, were returning home.
"On their way, they hit Imran who was driving a bike and started abusing him. At that time the matter was resolved as victim's brother and other neighbours intervened. But, a few minutes later the accused returned along with more than a dozen people and started beating up Imran," said a police officer.
Four more people were injuries as they also came under attack.
In the mean time, head constable Raghuraj Singh, arrived the spot with two more constables after receiving Police Control Room (PCR) call. However, Babar and his accomplices started pelting stones on policemen when Singh was trying to pacify the situation.
Singh sustained a serious head injury while the other constables received minor injuries.
"Babar was arrested though the rest of his accomplices escaped. Two separate cases have been registered against Babar and his accomplices," the officer added.
