The Delhi government on Wednesday said a political party was levelling "misleading and malicious" allegations to malign the Construction Workers Welfare Board.
Earlier during the day, Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party President Manoj Tiwari said there was a "Rs 100 crore scam of misappropriation of the board funds" by the Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government.
Tiwari was referring to media reports and urged for a Central Bureau of Investigation inquiry.
The Delhi government on Wednesday evening issued a rejoinder. "Attention of the Department of Labour has been drawn towards some false, misleading and malicious allegations levelled by a political party with the intention to malign the Construction Workers Welfare Board," the rejoinder said.
"All figures mentioned in the allegation are incorrect and it appears the political party concerned had done no homework before making wild allegations."
Tiwari said they feared that the government could destroy records of labour funds and the Lt. Governor should order sealing of all relevant records.
