Mumbai Indians' Kieron Pollard and Royal Challengers' Bangalore fast bowler Mitchell Starc were fined Wednesday for an on-field spat during the Indian Premier League (IPL) encounter Tuesday night here at the Wankhede Stadium.

The incident took place in the 17th over of the Mumbai Indians' innings when Pollard pulled out of his strike while Starc was still in his bowling run up.

Starc continued with his bowling and fired it towards the West Indian. An infuriated Pollard flung his bat towards the bowler and it needed the intervention of the umpires to cool down the things.

During a disciplinary hearing, Starc admitted to the level 2 offence (Article 2.2.11) of conduct contrary to the spirit of the game and accepted the sanction of a fine of 50 percent of his match fee.

Pollard also admitted to the level 2 offence (Article 2.2.7) of throwing his bat at or near a player and was fined 75 percent of his match fee.

The two skippers, Mumbai Indians' Rohit Sharma and Royal Challengers' Virat Kohli were also fined for maintaining a slow over rate.

This was Rohit's second slow over rate offence of the season and he was fined Rs.24 lakh while all his teammates were fined Rs. 6 lakh or 25 percent of their match fee. Since it was Kohli's first slow over rate offence of the season, he was fined Rs.12 lakh.

Varun Aaron of Royal Challengers Bangalore was also reprimanded after he violated Article 2.1.1 of the Code of Conduct for a breach of paragraph 4.2 of the IPL Clothing Regulations.
