The BJP Saturday accused West Bengal's Trinamool Congress of deliberately keeping the border with Bangladesh porous to increase its vote bank.
"The border with Bangladesh is deliberately being kept porous to increase (Trinamool's) vote bank," Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) general secretary Ram Lal said while addressing the state committee meeting here.
"Being a nationalist party, BJP will not accept if enemies are allowed to settle in the country for vote bank," he added.
The BJP has been repeatedly accusing the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress government in the state of harbouring illegal Bangladeshi immigrants.
During the Lok Sabha polls held in April-May, a bitter war of words had broken out between Banerjee and the then BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi over illegal Bangladeshi immigrants.
Friday, a BJP delegation met Governor K.N. Tripathi while seeking his intervention for a free and fair balloting exercise during the Sep 13 bypolls for the Basirhat South and Chowringhee assembly constituencies.
