Filmmaker Bala Pazhanisaamy has roped in playback singer Pragathi Guruprasad to essay an important role in his upcoming Tamil directorial "Thaara Thappattai". He says her role will add weight to the film's story.
"I can't discuss about the role, but Pragathi will be seen playing a character that will add a lot of weight to the story. It's not a blink-and-miss kind of role, but one that's very important from the film's perspective," Bala told IANS.
Pragathi, who shot to fame via a singing competition on television, crooned a chartbuster in Bala's last film "Paradesi".
"I wanted someone like Pragathi for the role and we were even ready to audition girls for the same, but then I felt she would fit the bill perfectly than anyone else," he added.
"Thaara Thappattai" features Sasikumar and Varalaxmi Sarath Kumar in the lead. Pragathi is likely to play Sasikumar's sister in the film, which is said to be based on Karagattam, a folk dance of Tamil Nadu.
