Filmmaker Prakash Jha has slammed as "misleading" media reports that he offered to make 'voluntary cuts' to his forthcoming film "Jai Gangaajal" in return for a more favourable certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
Jha, who is known for his films around contemporary social issues, says he never made any such cuts to get a "UA" certificate, which would make it more widely available to audiences.
According to some reports, Jha locked horns with the censor board, which wanted to grant "A", or adult rating, certificate to the Priyanka Chopra-starrer with minimal cuts. But the director was not on the same page as he insisted on "UA" certificate with cuts in view of the restrictive audiences' profile and participation that comes with 'A' certificate.
"Inaccurate and Misleading Report! Censor Board cuts violence, abuses to facilitate UA rating for 'Jai Gangaajal'," Jha tweeted on Saturday.
He added: "Misleading and inaccurate! Never made voluntary cuts...We are going in appeal against the CBFC's decision".
The director, who is bringing the sequel to his popular 2003 film "Gangaajal" with the movie, also shared the link of the incorrect story with his fans and followers on the micro-blogging site.
