Remembering the great saint, poet and composer Tyagaraja, the Sangeet Natak Akademi has organised "Pratha Parv" -- a cultural fest which celebrates the folk, tribal and traditional cultural expressions of India.
The festival, which began on Monday, comprises of presentations of various performing art forms and film screenings sourced from the archives of the Akademi.
It also includes exhibition and dissemination of various musical instruments, folk and traditional, from various states of the country especially the northeast, Odisha, Kerala and Uttarakhand.
Besides, the festival would also have an interactive session with artists who would share their traditional methodologies.
Artists like Malini Awasthi, Warsi Brothers, Shazia Bashir, Prabhat Sharma, Teejan Bai, Fakira Khan, Sayeed Sabri Jaipuri and many others will be seen performing.
The first edition of the festival which is being held at the Meghdoot Complex in Rabindra Bhawan here, would continue till December 30.
