Pre-medical test papers leaked in Ghaziabad, exam postponed

The Uttar Pradesh Combined Pre-Medical Test (UPCPMT) that was scheduled to be held Sunday was postponed after sealed boxes containing question papers of the exam kept in high security locker of two banks here were found breached.

"After the seals of the boxes containing question papers were found breached, the Combined Pre-Medical Test (CPMT) had to be postponed," said Ghaziabad City Magistrate Ashutosh Kumar.

The city magistrate said, "The CPMT, conducted by King George's Medical University, Lucknow, was scheduled to be held at 9.00 a.m. at 15 centres in Ghaziabad. About 9,760 students were to appear in the examination in all 15 centres."

 

"At 8.00 a.m. when the nodal officer. R.K. Dixit reached the Navyug Market branch of State Bank of India and Allahabad Bank to collect the question papers, he found the seal of the boxes broken."

"After inspecting carefully Dixit refused to accept the boxes containing question papers and reported the case to the District Magistrate S.V.S. Ranga Rao," he added.

On the district magistrate's intervention and further coordination with the higher authorities at Lucknow, the examination has been cancelled and the fresh schedule has been announced for July 20, 2014.

"The matter is being sent to police for the registration of FIR," Dixit said.

The nodal centre for the examination was at HRIT campus at Meerut Road. The other centres included M.B. Girls Inter College, Navyug Market; S.D. College G.T. Road; Rajkiya Balika Vidyalaya, Vijay Nagar; and Ingraham School, Hapur Road.

"M.B. Girls Inter College and HRIT campus contained double centres while HRIT Campus was the nodal centre for the entire examination to be held in Ghaziabad," the city magistrate added.
