President hosts At Home for freedom fighters

President Pranab Mukherjee hosted an At Home reception for freedom fighters on the 72nd anniversary of the Quit India Movement at the Rashtrapati Bhavan here Saturday, an official statement said.

The president felicitated freedom fighters from across the country in the presence of Vice President Hamid Ansari, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Rajnath Singh and other dignitaries.

A mobile phone was presented to each of the 34 freedom fighters with a personal message from the president.

In his message, the president said: "The mobile phone has become a symbol of India's rapid progress on the digital pathway. It connects us to our near and dear ones and to every corner of the world."

 

"I hope, this small gift will bring you joy as you keep in touch with family and friends, through many happy conversations in the coming days. I wish you the very best of health and a long life," said Mukherjee.
