President Pranab Mukherjee Thursday inaugurated a tribal museum here and said it can serve as a useful focal point for facilitating a dialogue and mutual exchange between tribal and urban societies.
He said a clearer understanding of traditional societies and culture, their religious beliefs, day-to-day rituals, occupations and handicrafts and depictions in art forms can lead to better appreciation of the dynamics of nation's evolution and the greatness of its ancient civilisation.
According to an official release, the president congratulated the Madhya Pradesh government for protecting, promoting and disseminating facets of tribal traditions of the state.
Mukherjee said he was confident this one-of-a-kind tribal museum would serve as a resource centre for researchers, scholars, students exploring various aspects of tribal culture and daily life.
"It can also serve as a very useful focal point for facilitating a dialogue and mutual exchange between tribal and urban societies," he added.
