Awareness programmes about leprosy will help bring an attitudinal change in society towards the disease and boost the morale of persons afflicted with it, President Pranab Mukherjee said Thursday.
In a message to the Hind Kusht Nivaran Sangh (Indian Leprosy Association) on the occasion of anti-leprosy day, the president said: "It is good to know that the organization is engaged in constructive humanitarian work in the field of leprosy".
"I am sure that such awareness programmes will help in bringing attitudinal change in our society about leprosy and leprosy affected persons. It will further boost morale and motivation of persons and organizations fighting the disease," he said.
Anti-leprosy day is observed Jan 30 every year in India.
