President pays tribute to Rajendra Prasad

President Ram Nath Kovind on Sunday paid floral tribute to Rajendra Prasad, the first President of India, on his 133rd birth anniversary, a Rashtrapati Bhavan statement said.

"The President, family members of Rajendra Prasad as well as officers and staff of the President's secretariat, paid floral tributes before a portrait of Rajendra Prasad in the Durbar Hall of Rashtrapati Bhavan," it said.

Born in Bihar on December 3, 1884, Rajendra Prasad participated in the freedom struggle and after Independence, served as President of the Constituent Assembly. He was elected President in 1952 and served till 1962.
