President to inaugurate CVC' golden jubilee celebrations

President Pranab Mukherjee will inaugurate the golden jubilee celebrations of Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) - the apex anti-corruption watchdog - at a function here Tuesday.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will preside over the inaugural function, an official release said.

A coffee table book and commemorative stamp will be released on the occasion.

Chief Justice of India P.Sathasivam will preside over the valedictory function Wednesday.

A two-day seminar on "Combating Corruption, Role of Accountability Institutions, Investigating Agencies, Civil Society and Media" will be held as part of the celebrations.

The CVC was set up in 1964 and has evolved over the decades from a single member body to multi-member statutory body.
