President Pranab Mukherjee on Friday greeted the government and people of Djibouti on the eve of its Independence Day.
In his message to President Ismail Omar Guelleh, Mukherjee said India and Djibouti have traditionally enjoyed friendly and cordial relations.
He expressed confidence that the friendly ties existing between the two countries would be further strengthened.
"The recent gesture of the government of Djibouti in extending its whole-hearted cooperation during my government's efforts to evacuate a large number of Indian nationals as well as nationals of other countries from strife-torn Yemen has taken this relationship to a new level," the President said.
"I avail of this opportunity to convey to Your Excellency my good wishes for your personal well-being, and happiness as well as for the progress and prosperity of the friendly people of Djibouti," he added.
Djibouti gained independence from France on June 27, 1977.
