President wishes Zimbabweans on national day

President Pranab Mukherjee on Sunday extended his greetings and felicitations to the government and people of Zimbabwe on the occasion of their Independence Day, observed on April 18.

In a message to his Zimbabwean counterpart Robert Mugabe, Mukherjee said: "It gives me great pleasure to extend warm greetings to the government and the people of Zimbabwe on the occasion of your Independence Day.

"India and Zimbabwe enjoy warm and cordial relations. I am confident that the mutually beneficial cooperation between our two nations will continue to strengthen and expand in the years to come," he added.

Zimbabwe observes its independence day on April 18, when former ruler Britain formally recognised the southern African country's independence
