Indonesians started voting in the presidential election Wednesday morning with two candidates contesting for the country's top office.

The two presidential candidates are former general Prabowo Subianto and Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo, Xinhua reported.

The opinion polls showed that the two had been running neck and neck.

A presidential ticket needs a simple majority to win. This is the third direct election for president in the country.
